ERHS Counseling Services:
(Services are based on the American School Counseling Association’s National School Counseling Standards)

 Please note: Counselors are available on a walk-in basis before school, at lunch, after school and by appointment.

 Some of the services available from your Eleanor Roosevelt High School Counselor are:

 Academic:
 • Individual four-year planning by appointment.
 • Registration and scheduling of classes.
 • Academic counseling for course selection, improving grades and general academic success strategies. 
 • Credit recovery, preparing for and applying to college, and referrals to alternative education programs.
 • Presentations are made to seniors regarding college applications, testing for college entrance, financial aid, and scholarships.
 • Presentations are made to junior students regarding post-secondary education options and testing for college admittance.
 • Presentations are made to sophomores   regarding college planning, high school graduation requirements, and career planning.
 • Presentations are made to freshmen to introduce them to available campus resources, high school graduation requirements and college admission requirements.
 • Counselors act as a liaison for students and parents to teachers.
 • NCAA Clearinghouse information for athletes.
 • Local scholarship bulletin and websites for national scholarship searches.
 • Liaison to Career Technical Education (CTE formerly ROP).
 • Monthly meetings with English Language Learners to discuss the redesignation process and support a successful academic experience.
 • Transcript review for completion of high school requirements and admission to the University of California, California State University, Riverside Community College, trade schools and the military.
 • Post-secondary educational counseling.
 • Assist students with college applications.
 • Parent and teacher conferences.

Personal/Social:
 Personal/Social Development: Students will understand safety and survival skills. Personal/Social development contributes to academic and career success. Personal/Social services may include the following resources or groups on:
 • Supporting students through individual/group counseling
 • Partnering with parents for the overall success of the student
 • Providing resources for families to public/private agencies
 • Conducting emergency student assessment as needed (i.e. suicide, danger to others)
 • Maintain confidential student records and generate necessary reports for monitoring by school, district and state • Conflict Mediation and Resolution Skills
 • Substance Abuse
 • Teen Dating Violence Prevention
 • Anger Management
 • Grief and Loss
 • Healthy Body Image
 • Domestic Violence Support Group
 • and various other support/educational groups as needed

Career:
• Career awareness and exploration through computer software activities in the library or the career center.
 • Discussion with students regarding career choice when choosing classes.
 • Help advertise career presentations and make referrals to the Career Center for further exploration.
 • Coordinate with the CTE Coordinator to direct students to vocational training courses offered through the Riverside County Office of Education.

Career Center Services include:
 • Weekly Progress Report forms
Students/Parents can use this form to check status in classes. Student give form to each teacher at the start of each period and pick up at the end of class.
 • Counselor’s Appointment Request forms
Student turns in completed form to Career Center and counselor will contact student.
 • Official Transcripts requests
Allow 48 hours for processing (Note: may take longer during grading period). Need parent/guardian signature for students under 18. ID required to pick up transcripts.
 • Lunchtime Presentations
College & Military guests’ visits are scheduled during lunch periods. Students may sign the “Interest List” to receive a reminder notice.
 • SAT & ACT Testing information
 Recommended to register online; registration by-mail packet are available. Test prep booklets are available for students to keep.

 Catalogs, memos & flyers
 • College & Career Resources include:
 Lunchtime Presentations & guest visitors, catalogs, books, computers, research programs & websites. Students can get assistance in researching College or Careers.
 • College Applications
Students can get assistance with completing college applications during non-class time.
 • Scholarships information & workshops (Seniors)
 1. Local Scholarships directions and assistance are available upon request.
 2. Students may review the scholarships notebook to select scholarships they are eligible for. Notebook is updated with any new scholarships in the front of the notebook for easy access.
